How to install Slack on Ubuntu


Instead of using email for communication on a company, you can use slack, slack is team collaboration tool that can be use to communicate among team member.

Slack is originally a web based chat platform for team member, but instead of using your web browser to login into slack, you can install the desktop app that's available for ubuntu.

Using the desktop app, you no longer need to open web browser in order to use slack, the slack desktop app for ubuntu is still labeled as 'beta' though.

How to install slack on ubuntu (slack for linux)
  • go to slack for linux download page and download the 64 bit ubuntu version
  • run this command to install slack
  • sudo dpkg -i slack-desktop-2.4.2-amd64.deb
  • open slack app by search on ubuntu dash with keyword 'slack'

  • enjoy slack on ubuntu
