How to disable online search on Ubuntu dash


By default, if you search something on ubuntu dash, it will make query to search on internet, this feature could be annoying for some people. In this article i will show you how to disable online search on ubuntu dash.

If you have slow internet connection or even limited bandwidth usage, you definitely don't want search on internet every time you type something on ubuntu dash, this is a bad thing, very bad feature of ubuntu unity desktop.

Luckily, i found solution to this, there is a way to disable automatic online search on ubuntu dash, we can do that using unity tweak tool that talk about on previous article.

To disable this stupid feature (online search), open unity tweak tool and look at 'Unity' section, choose 'Search', unchecked the 'Search online search' option.

click on Search

turn off this mother fucker

That's it now the ubuntu dash should not automatically search something online, thank you ubuntu, no more stupid search, that's all we want.

If you haven't yet install unity-tweak-tool, i strongly suggest you do, you can install unity tweak tool with this command:

sudo apt-get install unity-tweak-tool
